The year 2024 marked a significant milestone for the music group Hoodie Allen, as they celebrated the 10th anniversary of their debut album, “People Keep Talking.” The album, which was released in 2014, featured hit singles such as “No Interruption” and “Up Against the Wall,” and quickly propelled the band into the spotlight.
Hoodie Allen is a rap and hip-hop group that was formed in 2010 by two friends, Steven Markowitz (Hoodie Allen) and Matty Schwartz (Ginger Luke). The band originated in New York City, where Markowitz attended New York University, and then relocated to Chicago after Schwartz transferred to Northwestern University.
In its early days, Hoodie Allen gained recognition through online platforms such as YouTube and Soundcloud. Their first mixtape, “Leap Year,” was released in 2011 and was followed by several more mixtapes and EPs. The band’s debut album, People Keep Talking, was released in 2014 via Elektra Records and Atlantic Records.
People Keep Talking received critical acclaim for its catchy hooks, clever lyrics, and energetic beats. The album’s lead single, “No Interruption,” became a breakout hit, peaking at number 26 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Other popular singles from the album included “Up Against the Wall” and “All About It.”
In celebration of the album’s 10th anniversary, Hoodie Allen released a special edition of People Keep Talking on vinyl. The limited-edition release featured new artwork and a remastered version of the album. The band also embarked on a 10-year anniversary tour, performing the album in its entirety at select cities across the United States.
